Antonio Stradivari 1725 ca. VL da Vinci

Although around the time this violin was built Stradivari was an octogenarian, his passion for his profession had not decreased and he was still to be found in his workshop, constantly at work, in his relentless pursuit of perfection. By now a mild decline in the confidence of his hand can be noticed, especially concerning the carving of the f-holes and purfling, or the choice of material. His sons Francesco and Omobono were probably supporting their father now much more than in the past, nevertheless the Cremonese master’s style is still unmistakable, and his instruments maintained outstanding acoustic qualities.
