Antonio Stradivari 1699 VL St. Vallier
This instrument still bears an original label that reads ‘Antonius Stradivarius Cremonensis Faciebat Anno 1699’. Although in their book the Hills dated it 1690–92, they later declared a production date of 1699 in the certificate they issued. The violin is named after Mr. Raymond de St. Vallier, an amateur violinist, who owned it in the first half of the 19th century.
