Léon Victor Mougenot

Léon Victor Mougenot was the son of an instrument engraver and was born in 1874 in Mirecourt. His first job as a luthier was with E. Laurent in Brussels, and this was followed by positions with his cousin, Georges Mougenot (1887-1894), Blanchard in Lyon (1894-96) and later R. Lombard in Paris (1896-98). He finally worked for the Hill company in London, before returning to his hometown in 1899, where he started his own business and had numerous pupils.
He worked using the models of the old Italian masters, as well as those of Vuillaume and Lupot. Mougenot died in 1954.
